Origins
Long before the umbrella became something we grab on a rainy morning, forms of shade and protection were already part of human life.
Across different civilisations, people developed ways to protect themselves from the sun and the elements. In ancient Egypt and across Asia, parasols and umbrella-like objects could carry meanings far beyond simple practicality. They could appear in ceremonies, accompany important figures and become associated with rank and distinction.
Under the Seasons begins here — not with the modern umbrella, but with the much older human desire to stand beneath something that offers protection.
This is a story we are continuing to research: the materials, makers, cultures, traditions and people that helped shape an object that would eventually travel around the world.
The Origins collection is currently being developed.
